Greater Manchester and Lancashire the big winners at the LAPF Investments Awards

October, 2015 Print

Almost 200 people attended the first LAPF Investments awards which were held in September. At a spectacular gala dinner at the Waldorf Hilton in London, Greater Manchester scooped the Pension Fund of the Decade award while the LGPS Pension Fund of the Year award was won by Lancashire. Other notable winners included Lancashire, LPFA, Newham, Environment Agency and Clywd. Strathclyde, Lothian and West Midlands were all highly commended. Jeff Houston of the Local Government Association won the award for outstanding contribution, and Robert Claxton picked up a special Judges Award in recognition of his work in the sector. Winners in the private sector included Fund Manager of the Decade (Standard Life Investments), and Fund Manager of the Year (Insight Investment).

This was the first time LAPF Investments Magazine held an awards dinner, and the event recognised the dedication and professionalism of those who work in local authority pensions. A judging panel composed of Karen Shackleton, Tracey Milner, Howard Bluston, John Raisin and Valentine Furniss – some of the best known names in the industry – was able to draw on a wealth of knowledge and experience to select the shortlists for the awards and choose the eventual winners.
