Lendlease, a leading international property and infrastructure group with operations in Australia, Asia, Europe and the Americas, has entered into a £1.9 billion joint venture scheme with Birmingham City Council.

The Smithfield Birmingham development could create more than 8,000 new jobs and more than 3,000 new homes for the city, and create opportunities for regeneration.

The 17 hectare development will accelerate a wider transformation of Birmingham with an expanded city centre, and support long-term economic growth and social prosperity within the region.

Smithfield Birmingham is intended to be a sustainable, green and inclusive place that puts people at the heart of the development.

Lendlease was advised by a Linklaters team led by partner Andy Bruce, with counsel Imogen Jones and managing associates Jack Shand and Kate Pearson.

Linklaters previously advised Lendlease on its acquisition and development of Silvertown Quays, located between Canary Wharf and London City Airport. It also advised on the £2 billion regeneration project in London’s Elephant and Castle.
