A large Danish labour market pension fund, PensionDanmark, has appointed Hermes EOS to help with engagement with companies, as part of its responsible investment programme.

PensionDanmark said that Hermes will assist with the implementation of responsible investment policies and exercising its ownership at companies it invests in. Hermes EOS will provide its stewardship services for PensionDanmark’s €6.5 billion foreign-listed equity portfolio.

PensionDanmark is already a leader among pension funds by investing directly in sustainable energy infrastructure and real estate and applying ESG in its investment process. Jens-Christian Stougaard, a director at PensionDanmark, said: “Alongside our obligation to pursue high risk-adjusted investment returns, we also have a fiduciary duty to tackle social, ethical and environmental issues. We chose Hermes EOS because of the team’s expertise and their understanding of the commercial challenges and opportunities to engagement and good stewardship.”
