Insight Investment, a liability-driven investment (LDI) specialist fund manager, is to join forces with currency manager Pareto Investment Management, to form a global investment manager with assets under management of £212 billion.

As well as offering LDI solutions, Insight Investment also provides active fixed income, multi-asset and absolute return solutions to investors, while Pareto provides active and passive currency risk management. Insight chief executive officer, Abdallah Nauphal, commented: “From the outset, Insight and Pareto showed themselves to be a natural fit. The businesses share a similar risk management philosophy and client-centric approach. The complementary footprint of the combined businesses provides a broad geographic reach stretching from the UK and Europe to the US and Asia Pacific.

The combined entity will be known as Insight Investment in the UK and Europe and Insight Pareto in North America and Australasia. It will remain part of BNY Mellon’s boutique asset management structure, with a total staff of just under 500 including 139 investment professionals, and offices in London, Tokyo, New York and Sydney.
