LAPF Investments Awards winners revealed

West Midlands Pension Fund, Gresham House, and LGPS Central were among the big winners at last night’s (2nd October) LAPF Investments Awards, in association with Robbins Geller Rudman & Dowd.
Taking place at 8 Northumberland Avenue in London, the glittering ceremony once again showcased the very best of the LGPS – celebrating the exceptional work of LGPS funds, pools and the adviser community across investment, governance and implementation.
Those in attendance were thoroughly entertained by TV and radio broadcaster Vernon Kay, with the evening taking place at a pivotal moment for the industry the next few months being crucial to understanding what shape the LGPS will take in the years to come.
One of the standout performers of the night was West Midlands Pension Fund, which triumphantly took home three awards. This included Sally Cheung, who has proven herself one to watch after winning this year’s rising star award.
Gresham House, meanwhile, enjoyed a stellar evening, taking home two prestigious awards – namely Impact Manager of the Year and LGPS Fund Manager of the Year.
Additionally, there were major wins for three of the pools – Border to Coast Pensions Partnership, LGPS Central, and Wales Pension Partnership – who, between them, claimed the Outstanding Contribution of the Year, Pool Achievement of the Year and Investment Innovation awards.
Success was also seen by funds north of the border, with Lothian Pension Fund winning the LGPS Fund of the Year (assets over £3bn) award.
There was also a touching moment when the “godfather of the LGPS”, George Graham, was presented with the Judges’ Award.
