Insight Investment undertook 1,178 engagements in 2022 with debt issuers across 78 countries, including 38 emerging markets, according to its 2023 responsible stewardship report.

This included 140 dedicated environmental, social and governance (ESG) engagements that had a focus on climate change, water management and diversity and inclusion.

Insight also expanded its water risk research, aimed at identifying companies in Insight portfolios that have high water dependencies.

The report offers case studies of engagements, such as discussions where Insight has held a company accountable for its treatment of employees, a long-term engagement with a Singaporean investment company on climate disclosures and another engagement highlighting the governance issues driving a beverage company’s poor ESG score.

The report also covers the work Insight does to understand climate resilience under different scenarios by reducing carbon intensity within certain buy and maintain corporate bond portfolios, conducting specific stress tests on areas within its assets under management, and developing tools to support climate aware portfolios including a net zero alignment framework.

Insight’s Responsible Horizons range has also been expanded to seven strategies, with the launch of new impact focused strategies classified as “Article 9” under the EU’s Sustainable Finance Disclosure Regulation (SFDR).
