UK fund manager Schroders has launched a new fund, Schroder GAIA Helix, as a single access point for investors looking for alpha-generating strategies.

The fund is designed as a liquid alternatives offering, giving access to multiple strategies, with a focus on long-short and long-only alpha equity strategies, offering a UCITS framework. The fund will also diversify into credit, fixed income and foreign exchange asset classes. It will be managed by Helix chief investment officer, Robert Donald, who joined Schroders from hedge fund Brummer & Partners. He has also worked at Soros and GLG Partners. Donald commented: “Helix will bring a strong and attractive blend of Schroders’ alpha-generating investment expertise to investors. The fund has been designed for investors looking to access multi-strategy funds that aim to offer consistent and attractive returns with low correlations to markets. Growing Schroders’ alternatives and hedge fund capabilities are strategic objectives for the firm. We believe we are well positioned to draw on a strong pool of investment talent to deliver a highly differentiated product for the ultimate benefit of our clients.”
