Swiss fund manager SYZ & Co. has launched a concentrated continental European equity fund designed to appeal to UK investors.
The fund is managed by Eric Bendahan and follows a long-term, high-conviction stock-picking approach. SYZ said that many UK investors are splitting out UK and continental European equities and the fund reflects this, allowing investors to control their weighting in continental European equities. Bendahan’s investment strategy focuses on funds with good growth potential over five years, and the fund has a low turnover – typically 50-60% a year. As part of the bottom-up approach, family-owned businesses with a strategic vision, turnaround stories, less covered stocks and those with diverging valuations between equities and bonds are all favoured. The fund is structured as a Luxembourg SICAV with daily liquidity.
