Global consultants Towers Watson has appointed Hermes EOS to help it carry out its stewardship activities.

Towers Watson senior investment consultant, Emma Hunt, said that with $2 trillion in assets under advice, it was important for Towers to use its influence to change investment for the better. She added: “Collaborating with other investors is a powerful way to enhance the leverage that we can have, and that is why we have appointed Hermes EOS to undertake market level engagement.” Hermes EOS chief executive officer, Colin Melvin, said: “We are proud to have been chosen by Towers Watson to engage on its behalf at a market level on environmental, social and governance (ESG) matters. Towers Watson has been at the forefront of advising its own clients on responsible investing and we are pleased to be able to provide the firm with our insight and expertise.”

Towers Watson is the first fiduciary management and consulting client for Hermes EOS. As well as engaging with companies on corporate matters, Hermes EOS also engages on ESG issues and works with a number of collective investor groups to push regulators to set ambitious targets on environmental issues. In 2014, Hermes EOS was one of the first signatories to Stewardship Codes in Japan and Malaysia after contributing to their drafts.
